Thoughtful Tuesday

Topic: Being a Thinking Environment

This workshop is designed for us to immerse ourselves in the practical application of the Ten Components:

What does it mean to BE a Thinking Environment? and

What do you find challenging in doing it?

Using the building blocks of Rounds, Thinking Pairs, Open Discussion and Dialogue, we will think afresh about the behaviors we know ignite and sustain independent thinking.

We will aim to move beyond a theoretical understanding into the practical application, thinking about questions such as:

  • Is this idea of being the Ten Components another paradox? What do you think about it being both 'essential and impossible' ? (Nancy Kline).

  • Might there be a shadow side to any of the components ...e.g. can we have too much?

  • Which component, if any, feels like your nemesis and what might be a first step to making friends with it?

You may leave this workshop with a fresh perspective and renewed commitment to this "way of being in the world" (Shirley Edwards), creating more (lower case) thinking environments in your life, so that others can experience the promise and power of this radical act of generative, relational listening.
